95 clutch question

95 Ranger 2WD 2.3 5speed (mileage unknown)

Friends vehicle that he wants to sell.

The vehicle has been used very little the last couple years, been sitting for long periods of time.

QUESSTION: The clutch is sticky and he thinks that just driving it will get the clutch free'd up and working properly. Is there anything that can be used on the clutch slave to get it from sticking?? I have not worked on these clutches for quite some time so I don't remember if there is a inspection cover that can be removed to check out system.

Thanks

Re: 95 clutch question

I talked with owner again today and it sat a one location for about 6-7 months, when he went to move it there was no clutch. He did spray some penetrating oil on the slave.

I drove the pickup today and the only thing I found was that when shifting into reverse it did not seem to go into gear right away.

The resorvoir on the fender is about 3/4 full and the vehicle has 150,000 miles.

I am thinking just to drive it and should be OK.

Thoughts, thanks
