Are you sure it's the exhaust?
Rattling sounds could come from many places, but most of the time I've seen this, it involves the heat riser butterfly, which is between the Y-pipe and the passenger exhaust manifold. The butterfly either breaks at the weld and moves around on the shaft, or there is excessive wear on the shaft itself and this causes a rhythmic rattle in tune with the engine RPM.
