doors wont open from inside on 2002 sport trac

please help. my rear doors wont open from the inside. checked the child locks and they are off. does anyone know what is wrong? 2002 explorer sport trac

There is a small plastic clip that snaps. It is a very common weak point in a lot of vehicles. You must pop off the door panel to manually switch the locks off, or replace the part.

The most common reason for these breaking besides being weak plastic is if they are not fully engaged and someone tries to open the door from the inside, the will snap.

your 2 best options are as follows:

1. Pop the panel off and manually switch the door to child lock off, or
2. Ride around and make your passangers feel as if they are in a Police car.
