My 2000 S-10 Xtreme 2.2 non-flex fuel has had this problem for a while. When ever the weather is above 45 degrees the motor requires about 5-10 seconds of cranking to turn over. Any temperature below that and it starts perfectly. It will also start perfectly right after shut down (even when hot outside) but if you shut it down and wait any longer than 45-60 seconds it will require 5-10 seconds of cranking to start. I have checked the fuel pressure and it is not bleading down when the engine is shut off.
I have already replaced the coils, wires, plugs, engine coolant temp sensor, and fuel pump. All of which were for maintenance or other problems I've had but this same old starting problem has stayed with the truck since I bought it used over a year ago. It runs great otherwise and I've driven it up to 90 mph with no problems. I was wondering if anyone had heard of a TSB or notice about this condition. I do hear the fuel pump priming everytime I turn the key on and I'm running out of solutions and I'm starting to go back over everything I've changed to see if maybe I got a bad part. Any help would be appreciated

What is the fuel pressure readings?
Any codes or check engine lights?
Any add on air intakes or aftermarke air filters?

You may need to get it on a good engine capable scanner and watch all sensor readings for up to par.
Watch the engine and air intake tempt sensors readings real close.

I ran a fuel pressure check today and it is one psi below spec. I'm wondering if that could be the problem as it only does it when its warm. It was my understanding that a motor needed more fuel when its cold to start as opposed to hot starting where its failing. I haven't had a check engine light since my TPS failed about 9 months ago. I ran a code reader on it and it came up good. Plus I'm not too sure about the fuel specs as they are from Hanes and their GM manuals are a bit generic for a 4-cylinder as they only list one for my truck and I know that there two very different 4-cylinders put in the s-10 over the years my manual covers. Does anyone have a GM's specs on this truck? Thanks for your help again, good questions too I was totally spacing when I wrote the initial post.

Also, the only mod I've done was switch from Belt driven to electric fan

Fuel pressure specs are 41/47.
What was you readings?
Did you leave the gauge on it and check it when hot hard to start?

Yeah, I ran the check again and I am getting 41 psi with a 3 psi drop when running at idle with no a/c. The Haynes manual says that means everything is cool with the fuel system.
I did however find the culprit tonight. My automotive instructor once mentioned something about plug wires causing hot start problems so I decided to run a continuity test on the wires. When I pulled the #2 wire off the metal end of the wire came right off and the core was burning through (it crumbled as soon as I touched it). I cut back to good wire and reconnected it and now it starts all the time! The funny thing was those were Bosch premium wires.

Fuel pressure should jump up more than 41lbs on a cold or hot start and engine running down the road hot.
Confirm good fuel pressure hot.

If wire are that bad replace them.

Drop the bosch plugs and wires in trash can and get some good Ac Delco plugs and good wires.
