I have a 05 suburban that the rear hatch won't unlock. The door handle sometimes will open the door latch a little bit, but it catches then locks back shut completely. Any ideas?

Does it "click" when you try to unlock? Do you do it by remote or button inside the vehicle? Have you checked the fuse? I had the same exact problem a few weeks back, hatch dead, and it turned to be a fuse that blew when my wife was playing with the cell phone charger in one of the 12V outlets in front, which on a 1997 Suburban is the same fuse as for the hatch unlocking mechanism.. and some more stuff.

No click, the actuator is dead, now got to figure out how to pop off the panel when the door is locked shut.

Isn't there no longer a keyhole on a '05 Sub ?
My '99 rear hatch can be opened with the ignition key...
