Vibrating noise from DASHjseidel40 04-04-2009, 04:50 PM I have a 2006 Malibu and recently started hearing a vibration noise coming from the passenger middle of the dash, close to the windshield. The noise occurs between 30-50 mph then goes away. The noise is not affected when I turn the defroster on full blast so I dont think that has anything to do with it. I took it to a dealership and they claimed to have fixed it but the problem came back the very next day. Any help is appreciated! THANKS -Jeff Streetwise 04-06-2009, 10:56 AM Your radio isn't loud enough. lol, just kidding. Is it definetly a vibration? or is it wind noise? Is it only when Check your tire pressure, wheel balance, brake pads, etc. If it's only when you're moving, then it might be something that is in motion or spins. Could be cam, axel shaft etc. youngval9 04-10-2009, 09:27 AM I'm having the same issue in 06 Malibu. Man, is it annoying. It almost sounds like a piece of paper is sitting over the vent and flapping. No matter what you do, it won't go away. I imagine you would have to go behind the dash to get this fixed. The dealership said it was a minimum of $80 to look at it since folding the dash out would take an hour of labor. On a side note, when I flip my wipers on, the noise stops momentarily. But, it comes right back on once my wipers have made their slide across and back. Help! SC2ner 04-10-2009, 09:47 AM I'm having the same issue in 06 Malibu. Man, is it annoying. If the blower still works crawl under there, get to the fan and see if tapping on it makes it go away. It may or may not. My older 1998 had the same issue. Except, I bang on the dash it goes away. Hard to say with out looking at the car. I am just giving you a caveman solution. Oh, and obviously if it doesn't go away, and you can hear it distinctively coming from the motor, then it needs to be replaced. There is normally a foam strip that goes around the vents. It is possible that its hanging down. It is also in between parts in the dash around the Evap housing. kj_perks 04-21-2009, 01:38 PM My parents asked me to get on here and see if anyone else is having this problems, and guess what! You are! They have a 2007 Malibu that is doing the same thing. Several places including the dealership have looked at it and found nothing. Finally the dealership said the windshield needs to be replaced. Sounds like crappy manufacturing if you ask me! WPG 04-21-2009, 02:17 PM I had a buzzing noise that I thought was either coming from my dash or around the windshield that drove me crazy for two years. On my car, I found that the rubber weatherstrip on the outside around the windshield was loose and apparently vibrating/buzzing. I taped it at random points to confirm this was the issue and then eventually used clear silicone to glue it back down. The buzzing/vibrating never happened again. SC2ner 04-21-2009, 03:14 PM Finally the dealership said the windshield needs to be replaced. Sounds like crappy manufacturing if you ask me! I would not call it crappy manufacturing. Every manufacturer has a couple cars that not everything is perfect on. With how popular they are it wouldn't surprise me that you get a bad bug. If you think that no other cars are like this you will surely be shocked. You sound like the idiots who are like "I am going to go buy a Honda because I hear the don't have problems".... every car has problems. You'd be retarded to think that every car doesn't have issues. If you have a car that doesn't ever have issues let me know. It would be the million dollar car. When you make cars using machines you cannot expect them to be perfect. The dealership said the windshield needed to be replaced, and it may need to be. It's warranty so let them mess with it. You act as though these companies are god like and do not have flaws. Keep in mind that people are the ones who create these machines we drive. People are so imperfect it's disgusting. So as I said... use your warranty and tell them you want it fixed. If it's not the windshield its always something else. Every car has bugs... it comes down to whether or not the owner knows it. jacespeed 05-22-2009, 11:06 PM check to see if the cowl is bent. my '05 has the same problem. if the cowl is bent then the black rubber strip that contacts the windshield will vibrate. I folded a rag, put it in the passenger side of the cowl and shut the hood on it. and the sound went away. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
