Power Programmer

Played around a little today with a power programmer I picked up for the 'burb; '96 K2500, 454. Its the F.A.S.T. programmer. Mainly going to use it in towing mode when pulling the boat.
I set it up today in Power mode, shift points in power mode, and shift firmness in power mode. What a huge difference! Tranny shifts were really firm, shift points went up 4-5mph, and she had a noticeable increase in power. I didn't mess with enriching WOT or advancing the timing, which I'm sure would give better power gains.
I'm heading to Detroit in a few weeks, and I think I'll install the economy mode and see if it increases fuel economy. I don't think I'll see much of a gain with highway only miles.
Most of the programmers I looked at claimed no shift point or firmness adjustments for the 96-97s, but this one can set each for stock, economy, towing, or performance.
The only drawback is you have to pull some fuses in order to change programs, which means resetting all the radio presets each time.
It has some other features that I'll probably never use; adjust for fuel grade, speedo correction based on tire size and gear ratio, also has several higher speed limiters available.
I'll post any +/- results after my trip.
