1998 Durango Motor Noisebjwc 03-28-2009, 06:58 PM When first cranked up motor is quite with no noise at all. After about 5 min. a tick starts, sounds just like a lifter. The longer it runs the louder it gets. Holds good oil pressure even after motor is hot. Have replaced lifters ,rocker arms, and new timing chain and oil pump. Bolts on tourque converter and flex plate were all tight. Also cleaned out oil pan which was not dirty. Still makes noise that sounds like a lifter, but sounds like its at the back of the motor. Anyone have any ideas????? Could it possibly be coming from the transmission?????? THANKS FOR YOU HELP IN ADVANCE..... hundahunta 03-31-2009, 01:21 AM is it coming from the distributor bjwc 03-31-2009, 02:11 PM changed distributor and still makes the same noise...Any more ideas???? iwannagofast 04-06-2009, 06:16 PM are you sure its not an exhaust manifold leak?is it a 318?im assuming because of said distributor.Dont think ive seen them with exhaust manifolds leaking like the 4.7, but it is possible... randydana5 08-29-2009, 10:20 PM I'm having the same problem with my 99 durango I have a 5.9 in mine, but I also change lifters, pushrods, cap/button, install high volume pump, plugs, wires, ?
