Re: Check Engine light on/CODES PO101 & PO174

Sounds like a bad MAF sensor.
Didn't the guy at the parts store recommend anything, part wise?

Here's a link to the codes;

Do a search up in the How-To/Technical section (section above this one). Somebody will have had the same problem.

Re: Check Engine light on/CODES PO101 & PO174

How many miles on tune up end?
Good Ac Delco plugs and filters?
What is fuel pressure reading?

Code101 is MAF sensor is not reading what the computer has figured out for the reading.
In other words the VCM is not happie with the MAF sensor reading.

Code 174 is fuel trim is lean on bank 2.

First thing I would do is confirm proper fuel pressure 60/66 lbs specs.
Also clean MAF air flow sensor with MAF sensor cleaner.

Make sure air filter and air intake hoses are good shape and no air leaks on them.

Do you have a K&N ait filter or cold air intake setup?

To repair for the codes you have you will need a good engine capable scanner and some good repair info.

Get the code repair flow charts for the codes and go threw them.
Replair flow charts are in a factory repair manual or a All Dat online sub,
http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html

Let us know how it goes.

I bet cleaning it would go a very long way to making it run better, did wonders for my truck.

On cleaning the MAF sensor drop down to the S-10 how to department.

The oil from a K&N filter sometimes winds up in the MAF sensor sensors.

You will Find it in the air intake between air filter and TBI.
Remove it and get some MAF sensor cleaner and spray down the little wire sensors 3-4 times.

On tune up Good AC Delco plugs and wires and cap and rotor and fuel filter is a good start.

Always check fuel pressure for up to par.
After tune up and cleaning MAF sensor clear codes and drive and recheck for codes.

Post back how it goes.
