The driver side door lock on my 2004 Camry recently started sticking. I usually just open the door and pulling the handle makes the lock unlock automatically.

It just started sticking and will not open that way. Also, when I try to manually unlock it, it sticks. If I use the power door locks a couple of times to lock and unlock it, it will usually unstick and then I can unlock it manually with no problem.

This makes me think maybe it's a problem with the solenoid sticking? Anyway, I want to fix it but not spend the couple hundred dollars I'm sure the dealer would charge.

Any idea what could cause the door lock to stick when you manually try to unlock it, but still works fine with the power door locks?

You may need to open up the door by removing the inner panel and lubricate all the moving parts. I would try that first. There are Toyota factory service manuals stickied at the top of this forum's home page, that will show you how to do it. The manuals are available for free downloading.
