Transmission trouble
I have a 95 GMC K1500 pickup, V8 5.7L. VIN# 1GTEK19K2SE544628
last weekend it wouldn't downshift at all, it would chug from a stop and wouldn't really pick up speed until it got some momentum behind it. So I took it to the shop and they said the tranny had 5 trouble codes, they are
66 3/2downshift #2 solinoid
67 quad driver 2 solinoid
81 shift solinoid b circuit
82 shift solinoid a circuit
83 torque converter quad driver module
I had to continue to drive it because of work and only vehicle, so I shifted it as needed. I had to go to the store today and just tried throwing it into drive and it was in first and upshifted great, downshifted fine, and just seems normal. I checked the fluid again and now its really dirty so I'm changing it tomorrow, but its shifting........WOOHOO........so my question is, should I be worried? should I still have it checked or was it just maybe a sticky solinoid? I'm on a tight budget since the economy sucks and I've been laid off a lot, actually laid off right now for a while so I don't really have the cash to throw into it right now to get a new tranny. I just bought the thing about a month ago and now wondering if I got taken on the deal. I really appriciate any advice you guys could give me, I'm just a backyard mechanic, I haven't done much work on vehicles, I've changed ball joints and hubs ect..............I helped my old man change a tranny a couple of times but that was years ago. Thank you for in advance for any help you can give me.
