I own a 1989 GMC Suburban, 350 auto, air, 4WD, 1500 series. The check engine light will come on after about 5 miles, stay on for about three miles and then go out. All fluids are topped up and current. I did have a manifold gasket blow right before this started and that being fixed along with new water pump, radiator, thermostat, hoses, flushing etc... it still comes on regardless of the weather temperature. It will not come on at an idle, just driving.

Is there a reset for the "check engine light" and how? Or is this something else? Any suggestions are welcome.

On this year you can disconnect the battery negative for a minute and it will clear codes. If they come back on you will have to retrieve the code or codes and repair the problem.
Advance and Auto Zone used to pull codes free,

Thanks, that sounds simple enough and worth a try for the first step
