97 astro van engine code po 300

my van is still showwing two codes,both po 300,missfire multiple cylinders,under power,about 55-65 mph,it gets sluggish,at idle,not missing too bad,i replaced the cap and rotor,about 2 months ago,and used my obdII scanner to turn of the check engine light,ran fine,now it just started comming on again,what now?? thanks for any tips,you can e mail me @ rascal9094@yahoo.com..

Welcome Aboard!

If you think the cap and rotor are intact, check the coil and secondary wires. If you suspect the cap has broken down already (not uncommon with aftermarket caps) you can meg between the various terminals to check for leakage.

mrfixit44 - I had a simular problem about a week ago (same 300 code) and left my 99 Astro parked all week without checking... Go to start it today and no start... What I found right off the bat is that I have spark shooting down the coil wire right at the coil connection. I swapped wires and same exact problem. I then pulled the wire off the coil and the spark was going crazy on the top/side (spout?) of the coil... I expect my coil is bad... My problem is that I'm not sure what caused this?????

thanks for the help,the fun part is tearing into the engine cover of which is part of the dash to work on it,not fun,plugs are hard to change also,have a good one.
