RXE Clio 1999 immobiliser / alarm issues!

here goes

i use the fob to lock the car, as you do and the central locking then locks accordingly and the cars alarm and immobiliser are subsequently also then set.

After 5 secs the car then starts beeping as if it's warning me that the car is about to sound it's alarm. It proceeeds to sound the alarm after 10 secs of beeping. So i use the fob to unlock the car, it stops. I try again and again and the same thing happens.

I've tried opening the boot and fiddling about with the catches that turn the lights off and on when you open the boot hatch. I suspected the catch that turns off the light in the boot was not quiet pushing in fully when the boot was shutting. So i did this and tweaked the catch so it pushed in better and tried it again, the fob was clicked and there was no beeping?! so i thought I'd cracked it.

Then 1 hour later the alarm went off again. I tried the same little trick of messing with the boot catch but that now does not work!

One further point the battery in the fobs are low and the car battery is very low as the car is hardly used - could this be a problem or is there some other typical immobiliser issue for this model and year - which is RXE 1999 RXE Mk11 clio.

Help as this is driving me mad and I'll be damned if I'm wasting my hard earned to be charged 150 quid for a tiny little glitch that I maybe able to fix myself.

cheers and hope somebpody can help or had a similar issue and can offer advice.

this is rather urgent as I'm selling the car this weekend and it's just started doing it for no apparent reason.

Cheers all
