02 monte carlo no start

I have a 02 monte carlo w/3.8. First the car will randomly not start. First thing in the morning the car will start up fine. After driving and turn the car off, it may or may not start. The information system will flash the battery and security after several tries it may start up. When it will not start up it will not do anything no crank nothing.

Re: 02 monte carlo no start

This could be a number of things but it probably is GM's special little security system. In my car it was a little sensor attached to the ignition key cylinder after 3 hours and a check for a few hundred dollars my local dealer was kind enough to fix the faulty system problem . This could be a bad connection at the relay or elsewhere . but its probably in the key cylinder area. You can't fix this yourself takes some sort of coding which only a dealer can do. So unless you enjoy being stranded at random moments Id say take it to the dealer. I put off fixing mine untill about the 4th time it stranded me. I have had no problems since
