caliper seizing up

Hello everyone. On my 99 caravan I thought the left front caliper was seizing up because it was not releasing completely after letting off the brake, so I the changed the caliper & nothing changed. I tried pushing the piston back & it would only go back if I opened the bleeder screw. After doing a search on here & a couple of other places I read it could be the rubber flex hose collapsing & not allowing the fluid back to the master cylinder. So I changed the flex line & sure enough problem solved. Also changed right side to prevent future problems.

Re: caliper seizing up

Thanks for posting this info. It's been a while since it's been "up front". Happy to hear your problem is history.

Just curious. Someone once said with pressure off the line they could squeeze it and feel a lump. Did you try that?

Just curious. Someone once said with pressure off the line they could squeeze it and feel a lump. Did you try that? No I did not. Externally the hose looked fine. I did cut the hose in a few spots & there was an opening albeit smaller then in the banjo bolt. I'm guessing the inside swells up & starts to close off the opening.
