2002 Monte high beam light problem

anybody out there ever have problems with the high beam switch on these cars ? as long as i hold the arm back i have high beams as soon as i let go of the arm they go back to low beams, just wondered if this was a easy fix or not any help would be appreciated. Thanks ,Mike

Try pushing the arm forward my wife complained about this and this was the problem.

thanks for the response , i have already tryed that i am afraid if i push any harder forward it will break . i know the older style's had the dimmer switch mounted on the columns i am sure that they have changed how these newer models are thanks for responding .... mike

Go to Chevy parts dept and look at a new one while your at the location. I assume you will have to purchase a new one. If this is the case ask for instructions but I think you will need a manual. Napa may also sell the switches.

Very common problems in 00-05 Monte Carlos and impalas: The Multifunction switch is probably shot. could even cause you to loose all headlights all of a sudden one night while driving.

I have a 2005 monte and one night a few months ago I was driving down a dark country road at 2am with my brights on. I would think that after 100 years we would perfect the headlght switch. But I guess the guys at GM like to shake things up (until they fall apart). Well there I was driving with my brights on when the headlights quit working all together. Luckily I was able to not go in the ditch but I did drive the last 2 miles by the light of my 4way flashers. Seems obvious to me this is a big safety issue.

It is definately the multifunction switch......that went bad on my 2001 monte carlo.....i replaced the multifunction switch located on the steering column and nnow my lights and highbeam switch work
