I recently completed a rear brake job on an 01 Windstar. I changed drums, shoes, springs, cylinders and adjusters. I cleaned the ABS sensors, and bled the new cylinders. As soon as the job was done, the red idiot light in the center of the cluster gauges has turned on, indicating a problem with the brakes. I know this is not a problem, because they are all new parts. I disconnected the battery hoping the computer would reset to no avail. anybody know how to reset the light.

did you top up the fluid reservoir?

If topping of doesn't cure it, then could be that you probably let air in the system somehow while bleeding!

Make sure if you do bleed the system you do not run fluid all the way out of reservoir. Or you will have a heck of a time getting it right.. If you starve the ABS pump you will need a ABS brake scan tool with pump actuator capability. To totally bleed the system back.. But if you have not done this then no worries.. May just be low on fluid.. Also check to make sure E brake is all the way down..

The emergency brake even if just engaged a little will put that light on.

The fluid level sensor is set so high that it will trip even when you are full to the bottom of the full line.

Make sure that you are not leaking fluid at the point that the brake line enters the wheel cylinder.....that connection was a real challenge when I replaced my wheel cylinders.
If it is not right....it can suck air.....but it will also seep brake fluid if that is happening.

If the this, along with the other things mentioned do not cure the problem....then I would re-bleed the brakes.
Of course.....double check the parking brake thing.....the cable can hang up....etc.....
