2005 Sebring touring, how good are they?

My son is looking at a 2005 Sebring touring four door. He claims the touring only comes with one V6 engine. He test drove it and everything seems to act okay. The dealer is having the brakes checked, and replaced if necessary, at a repair shop my son has used a number of times to repair his older pickup, this repair shop will also give the car a visual inspection. The dealer claims this car is a reposssession. It has 57,000 miles and the dealer is asking $4900 for it. My son is going to have his uncle run a carfax on it also. Are there any known mechanical problems to expect on this car? How good a car in general are they? Any other comments also appreciated. Thanks.

I guess I'm being too specific. How good a car in general is the Sebring? Any comments good or bad appreciated.

Re: 2005 Sebring touring, how good are they?

I realize it's been over two weeks since you originally asked. Still, I hope this helps you or perhaps someone else later.

I've owned an 06 Sebring Touring sedan 2.7L V6 for not quite two years. I purchased it from the dealer as a program car with 22,000 miles. At the time I bought it, the dealer turned the front brake rotors and replaced the pads (due to vibration during a stop). The Sebring has 70,000 miles on it now. At about 55,000 miles I replaced the original tires and REPLACED the front rotors and pads. The car drives and stops much better now than ever before. I have had no other problems with it. Best highway MPG has been 26. 95% of my driving is rural county and state roads (asphalt but just barely). Maintenance has been regular but not excessive (oil and filter change every 5,000 miles).
