Manual Trans Fluid Replacement

I drained my 2001 Elantra manual transmission fluid and refilled it. In the process I removed two bolts from the bottom of the transmission housing. Apparently one of the bolts was not the one I should uncrew. I could not screw back in this bolt as the receptacle was somehow dislocated in the transmission housing. I plugged the hole with a rag and since driven more than 1000 miles without any problem (no leak or no unusual noise). Now I am wondering if I should do somthing about the bolt. Anyone on this forum has any insight on this bolt as to what purpose it has for the transmission?

Re: Manual Trans Fluid Replacement

It's probably ok if you don't want to spend any money. Don't drive it too hard. get some epoxy glue and fill in the hole. Otherwise, it's probably an expensive repair as you have to remove the trans and break it open to fix it.
