I have a 92 F-150 4wd with the 351 i have a nasty exhaust tick its leaking between the y pipe and the manifold and its a ball and socket joint that doesnt utilize a donut gasket im wondering if theres some magic exhaust glue or something else out there that maybe somebody on here has used and it worked good or am i just screwed and have to get a new y pipe idk why it wont seal its not rotted out and the champfer on the pipe seams rite just will not seal if anybody has any ideas on how to seal this leak please reply (this leak is driven me nuts!):banghead:

Is the flange weak and your not clamping properly. If this is the case I think I've run across repair flanges two piece with a rivet that opens or the two bolts clamp it down. Ask at a store like Napa with experienced parts help. You have to cut or remove the old one.

no the flange is solid yet ik what ur talken bout for the aftermarket rivit ones tho ive used them, everything is solid and appears to be round it just doesnt seal properly

Sometimes the metal if the Y-pipe can become somewhat distorted, causing a leak. In this case, you can heat up the leaking area cherry-red with an oxy-acetylene torch and tap the flange then re-tighten. The manifold will act like an 'anvil' and re-shape the metal for a better seal.
But if the y-pipe metal is too thin, fatigued or split, this will not work. In that case, some high temp copper based silicone could be used to make a temporary gasket.

huh i never thought bout useing a torch 2 heat it up and tap it back into shape thanks i will have to try that
