95 rivi ac/heat problem and weird noise

Anyone know what i need to fix to get my heat back working. I can hear my fan blowing when i turn on the heat but no actual heat is coming out, just cold air. However when I use the bi-level setting it blows cold air out on the driver side and hot air on the passenger side. The heater option doesnt blow out any air though. It does defrost my windows however but thats about it. I have replaced the thermostat recently as I was told that was the cheapest way out. I have the proper amount of antifreeze required but no heat still. I have tried all the different settings and the only one that does blow out the heat is bi-level but it does no good when the hot air only blows on the passenger side.

My 2nd question is about this weird noise i hear when starting up and turning off the car. The best way i can describe it is a low humming or buzzing sound. I was told it was my air ride suspension by one person and someone else told me that it was my fuel pump going bad. I only hear the sound about 3 to 5 minutes when i turn it on then it goes away, when I turn off the car i hear it again for the same amount of time. Any info would be helpful...thanks in advance.

Re: 95 rivi ac/heat problem and weird noise

There are five actuators mounted on the HVAC Plenum that control various a/c-heater functions.# 1 actuator controls the defrroster,#2 actuator controls the air inlet door,#3 actuator controls the air mix door #2 passenger side,#4 actuator controls the a/c door and #5 actuator controls the air mix door #1 passenger side.

I beleive the last item is not functioning since you indicated that heated air is being emitted from the passenger side, but not from the drivers side. There are three actuators located on the left side of the HVAC Plenum. The one I believe that is causing your problem is the center one

Simple diagnosis would be is to have someone work the various a/c heater controls on the face panel while you visually see if there is any movement on the actuator arm on the drivers side acuator that is attached to the plenum.

Does this seem logical? Worth investigating
