My 1999 Camry V6 has a check engine light that came on at 162,000 and the trac off came on at 174,000 miles. What is the problem and what can I do to fix this without getting ripped off?

Get the OBD2 codes read. Autozone and some other parts stores will read the codes for you for free. If you have an Autozone in your area, go there. If not, call around to other auto parts stores in your area and ask if they offer this free service. Then get the codes read, record them and then post them here. Someone will then be able to give you some direction.

dude for the engine light the simplest repair u can do urself without checking the codes is replace the gas cap. most camrys have the engine light go on just becuase of a simple gas cap leak.

Don't waste money guessing - get the codes like Mike said.
