I am about to buy a Blazer ..it is a 2000 4x4..with 80 thousand miles..it has been inspected and is in excelent condition..i am buying from a small dealer. I havent bought it yet but we drove it home. It feels lie it sways while i am driving but not all the time...and i dont know if this is normal for a 2000 blazer or if there is something wrong with it..i dont know what to do.. they are asking for 7800 for it and i also dont know if this is a good price or not..Also..they gas light came on and minutes later it stalled...but after getting gas it seems that there was only about a gallon in it when it stalled so is that why it would of stalled? i dont know...i go back to the dealer monday...should i not buy this??? i do like it but i just dont know...anyone ..please help me

Re: Please help

Sway could be worn shocks or sway bar links. Check NADA online for price in your area. Enter the options on the vehicle etc. Prices vary depending where you are. The low fuel light will come on with about 2 gallons or so in the tank, that could also be why it stalled. Ask the dealer if you can test drive it for a couple of hours or so, then take it to a shop that you trust and have them give it the once over.

Re: Please help

The other thing to ask...if possible is the service records...or as oldmaster said ...have it inspected by a mechanic you trust...I have a 2000 4x4 2 door...I have had the oil lines replaced, heater core, both hubs, and also have the feeling of sway at times and I have new shocks....with 90000 miles.

A couple common themes with this rig I have seen being on here is cooling system problems due to the dexcool coolant...heater core is one and intake manifold leaking...I already paid 400 for the heater core replacement and now my intake is leaking...which if I have it done professionally it will cost 400...I will probably do it myself....also fuel gage sometimes goes bad meaning that the needle will go back and forth.

Plus I feel the price they are asking is a little steep...7000 tops and thats if its mint...more like 6000 in great shape....

Hope this helps.

Re: Please help

I agree. Tell them you want your own mechanic to look at. if they have nothing to hide thay should'nt have a problem with it. If they give any problem walk away. as far as the mileage if the previous owner(s) took care of it 80,000 is nothing. if they treated it like crap the car could die a week from now.
