Why is the "SRS" light always on ?HondaAccordV6 10-21-2001, 05:08 AM why is the srs light always on? Henweee 10-21-2001, 01:02 PM your srs light is on because your sensors are messed up... You have to take it back to the dealer to fix that prob... HeN Starchild 10-21-2001, 04:08 PM What is SRS? I have that too on my car, but it doesn't stay always on. Isn't it an anti-locking break system or something? Henweee 10-22-2001, 05:54 PM srs is your airbag signal, something like that... gotta read your manual... If your srs is always on, thats a problem.. need to get it fix... HeN DavidG 11-16-2001, 11:17 AM the srs is the system in charge of your safety when you are driving, iin controls the airbagS the seat belts tentioner and stuff like that.. to fix the light you gonna have to take it to the dealer, and they will do the work for you. i just took my car from the dealer this past wednesday and they were working on the same problem. the mechanic told me that the SRS light will come on when you unplug the battery and when you plug it back on you have your key in the ignition. have you installed a system or alarm, in your car??? or just reset the ECU??? if so when you plug the battery make sure you dont have your key n the ignition :D hepe this helps CompuRIP7 12-09-2001, 10:45 PM Actually, SRS stands for Safety Restraint System and it handles the airbags. It does have a memory so you might be able to unplug disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and get it to reset. Other than that, its gotta go back to the dealership, I don't think anyone but the dealer will touch it. The dealer may warranty that item for longer than 3/36K, so check it out, for example, Honda warranties seatbelts for the life of the car. Called two dealer service centers and they asked if I had the battery changed lately. They have seen this problem many times before. Forums such as this are full of this Honda problem. The delaer said that the air bags will not deploy unless the SRS computer is replaced and jokingly said that may be a good thing for people that don't want air bags. Honda needs to recognize this as a serious safety issue. If they warranty the seat belts for life they should also equally warranty the SRS mechanism which after all stands for Supplemental Restraint System. They won't warranty the mechanism beyond 3 years and will not recognize this as a design defect. They want $600 to replace it. Honda is at serious risk when people can't afford the $600 and the bags don't deploy. This is a SAFTEY ISSUE. If someone asks how much it costs to replace the battery on an Accord the answer is $650 bucks. $50 bucks for the battery and $600 for the SRS mechanism. I have escalated this with American Honda Customer Service with unsatisfactory results. Don't mess with your customer's safety. I am very disappointed in Honda's position. This is my first and last Honda. drift 05-01-2002, 01:46 AM Originally posted by CompuRIP7 Actually, SRS stands for Safety Restraint System and it handles the airbags. *cough* technically *cough* it stands for SUPPLEMENTAL restraint system... and it means the airbags, airbag sensors, and deployment system. it merely supplements the safety belts. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
