Hey guys,

Sorry to crash your thread, but I don't know the first thing about Toyota Camrys.

I'm looking at a 2003 Camry XLE 2.2L/AT with 149k miles. The asking price is $7350 obo.

Can anyone help me out with what to look for when checking out the car? Are there any trouble spots with this model that I should watch for?

What would be considered a good deal?

Thanks for any help you can give.:runaround:

To find out if this is a good deal or not, go to one of the online sources like Kelly Blue Book (KBB.COM).

What I am asking is "Is this model/year a dependable, solid vehicle?"

Are there any issues I need to check for when I am inspecting the vehicle?

Any Camry you buy is going to be at or near the top of the list for used cars to buy. If you want to know which Camry is the all around best, you'll get many varied answers. All I can say is IMHO you can't go wrong buying any model year Camry. NO! I don't work for Toyota. The best move you can make is to have a trusted mechanic look it over before buying it. It could be the best $200 bucks you ever spend. Here's a few more websites to look into:

www.carcomplaints.com
www.nhtsa.gov (look for recalls)
www.msnautos.com
www.motorweek.com

As Mike showed you KBB is one of the best for getting a handle on how much a car is worth.

For a car with that many miles in short time, good maintenance records are invaluable. Pay particular attention to receipts for changing the transmission and differential fluids, coolant (may not have been done yet if only 5 yrs old), and the timing belt (if not a chain). Other receipts for changing spark plugs, oil, and air filters at regular intervals are good, too. Camry quality fell only slightly in the last few years; 2003 should be right up there with their historical levels. Otherwise, it sounds like a decent price for a relatively late-model car. Good luck!

I drive 2004 LE and I can tell you that I enjoy every moment of driving it.

In my 2004 there is a timing chain, so no worries about it.

There were two TSB's for my model: one was for steering wheel clicking - was taken care by the dealer, the second one for rattling noise in the engine compartment due to bad drive belt tensioner. That is about all I know.
