i have a 98 legacy outback with the 2.5 the timeing belt jumped and i put a new one on with the marks lined up but now it bogs up and down and wants to die when the timing jumps will the pistons hit the valves or is it a high tolerates motor thanks

According to my resources it is an interference engine, the valves and pistons will contact each other. Sorry
