'96 305 LS1 misfire in #5liquidwrench 11-30-2008, 10:07 PM misfire code for cyl #five comes up repeatedly. changed dist. cap/rotor wires and plugs. 120 psi compression in cyl #5. 12v going to every injector +/- .5 volts. Same resistance reading across every injector. Tried running a real rich tank of injector cleaners and wonder potions. no effect. Am i actually going to have to pull the intake off and change out the infected injector? I just want it to run good without an idiot light flashing so i can sell the engine and drop in the new pretty 350 thats sitting on the engine stand for a month now. Got a guy interested but I don't want to give him a problem child. This little miss got me good. silicon212 12-01-2008, 01:33 AM misfire code for cyl #five comes up repeatedly. changed dist. cap/rotor wires and plugs. 120 psi compression in cyl #5. 12v going to every injector +/- .5 volts. The LS1 was never a 305, and it wasn't available in 1996. liquidwrench 12-01-2008, 09:29 PM o.k. I thought the port injected v-8 was considered LS1 material. it's a 96 plain jane 305 then. Blue Bowtie 12-03-2008, 11:47 PM I'm guessing this is a Vortec truck engine, since that was the only 305 available in 1996. If so, you don't have to pull the entire intake to change out the injectors, just the upper intake: http://mysite.verizon.net/strey/files/VortecInjectorPodMounting.jpg If it's a sedan, it's either a 267 or a 350, and will look like this on top: http://mysite.verizon.net/strey/files/LT2LFC03.jpg Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
