Breaking problem

Hi there,
So i got a 2001 V reg clio 1.2, drove to work yesterday and everything was fine... 8hrs later i go to drive home and my breaks feel a bit sloppy and the breaking distance increased dramatically. I manage to get it home without crashing and go to put hand break on finding that also really loose. I get out of car and lean on back end to find it still rolled with hand break on. so i figure the back brakes pads must need changing (having not so long ago changed front pads i didn't bother checking) but when i open the drums and removing the pads for inspection i found they where fine... Not being able to find of any other similarities to the handbrake and the foot peddle i thought id ask the internet. i need to get this fixed as soon as possible as this car is my only form of transport to work
Thanks for you help

Re: Breaking problem

Hi Odar

I had a similar problem. Put the hand brake on & it was coming right up. It failed at MOT because the anchor point had become undone, where the handbrake lever is held to the body.

As for increased braking distance, could be tyre not correctly infalted.

safe driving

James
