93 Pickup Won't Idle

93 Toyota 4x4 Pickup, 4 cylinder, straight shift

The truck suddenly got to where it won't idle when hot. When cold, it does fine, but when it warms up it quits when I let off the accelerator. Changed idle control valve and no improvement. Any ideas on where to go next?

Re: 93 Pickup Won't Idle

This post was for a friend's truck. It took me a little time to get with him on the details. He finally punted and took it in to a shop and they told him it was an intake air leak (he thinks it was an o-ring, but the shop wasn't specific). I would check all the vacuum lines and seals on the intake and look for a leak. Good luck.

You can use carburetor cleaner and spray around injector bases, vacuum lines, and along the edges of the intake. If you hit a leak the engine will smooth out.
