98 Spitting and Sputtering

Today my car right when i started it suddenly started spitting and sputtering. I put it in reverse and it really didn't want to go anywhere to easy.
There are no codes coming up.
I put it in park gave it a rev and it sounded like misfiring then when it got down in rpms it seemed to be a bit better, so i took off and drove fine home.

Just curious if its a usual symptom for the intrepid.

If not, suggestions.. bad spark.. i do not know the history of maintenance on this car. maybe water in the gas?
