97 legacy - wiring keyless entry expertise needed

im having some difficulties wiring a keyless entry system with remote start..

i dont realyl care about the remote start but since it has it.. i dont think it will allow me to just use the keyless entry... so i need some help with finishing the wiring:

in a 97 legacy L sedan
the keyless system = ultra start G11t

The Problem

I cant find the wires for:
horn (-) different resources say different things. two say it is red/green and from a 3 pin black plug and two sources say red/blue wire @ horn relay or keyless module (obviously this doesnt exist)

Parking light (-) it says to look for in headlight switch.... and should be black/green
idk where to look.... othere than taking the steering wheel covers off... is that really what i need to do...?

What is a ground while running output? (pin 12) and where would i find that...

please help confirm..

Parking light (+) im not entirely sure. but i do believe i have found it.
is this it? does it come out of the plug immediately above the fuse box towards the rear of the car. (that fits the description of red with silver dots in gray connector above fuse box) one source says to look next to ignition harness for that color wire..
so is the wire thats pulled out from the rest of the wires coming out of that molex possibly the one i need..? (i know its not clear.. sorry)

please advise: im guessing i can just leave the following wires unwired..
pin 1: diesel wait to start input
pin 7: tach detection input (optional anyway and recommended to wire without unless car takes more than 2 seconds of cranking to start)
pin 8 & 10: re arm and dis arm outputs: i dont have an alarm... so can i leave that blank?
pin 9: no trunk release...

You can also go to www.bulldogsecurity.com and look up your car too. These charts should be used as a reference and that you should TEST ALL CONNECTIONS before you attach the wire from the remote start. I usually take the shrouds off on vehicles when getting horn, lights, and ignition wires.

"ground when running output" is used for adding an additional relay or security bypass. You shouldn't have to use it.

+ parking lights--not sure. I go to the column and there's a white plug there that has that wire. Just test that wire you found. It could also be the same one.

+ brake-- If that is white/black then yes

The rest of the wires you won't need. Personally I ALWAYS connect the tach sense wire because many times these cheap remote starters won't start correctly in voltage sense mode.

i just finished wiring the keyless entry on my car.. but theres the remote start bit that i cant finish..

i tried setting it up without hooking up the tach... but the starter doesnt seem to like that... and is saying tach lock out. so i guess ill have to hook it up and give it a shot.

where is the ignition coil... i dont really know what to be looking for.. other than a blue wire..

please advise. Thanks!

ALSO.... why is systems horn output (-) ?

that doesnt make any sense to me.. if the horn is grounded negative.. why would it output negative as well..

btw.. i couldnt find the horn wire still... so i didnt hook it up.. but i checked it.. and the output is only liek - .4 volts output.. which is strange.. i was expecting the full 12..

Most horns in vehicles actually rest at 12v. and are negative triggered. I can't remember if yours is or not. Again, you'll need to test it. The wire should show that it goes to ground when you press the horn button.

Anymore I usually go to an injector wire instead of a coil wire mainly because they are normally easier to get to. The coil is the thing that all the sparkplugs go to. The blue wire will pulse and the remote start can monitor that to know it's properly running. Fuel injectors do the same thing. If you can see more than one, look at the wires. Usually there will be 2 wires with one wire color being the same at each injector. If so, use the wire that's different off of one injector. If both are the same color then you'll need to test the wires to see which one pulses.

hmm. well thanks for the info. i took a look at a service manual and found the right wire for the tach in the cabin at one of the connectors... so the remote start is working fine so far.

im still having some trouble with the horn though.. i found the wire for the horn.. and i just tapped into it... i believe the wiring i correct. because if the keyless module is outputting negative.. the horn wire should be recieving a negative ground.. and thereby completing the circuit back to teh relay.. and the horn should sound..

assuming the programing in the keyless system is correct.. the horn should be sounding... but it hasnt worked so far..
idk.. maybe my terminology is off.. im not sure how to make the horn work..

Well, did you meter the wire when you press the horn button to see if it is indeed the correct wire? Also, did you meter the output from the remote start to see if there's an output.

idk i did something... and i dont think it was the right way to test it at all.. whats the proper way to test both?

Well, in my shop we use either a mulitmeter or Logic Probe. You could get away with what you are doing with a basic 12v testlight.
