hi
i have replaced the filter and cleaned out the pan but i still have a tranny slipping
i cant do teh computer test as it doesnt have problems now when i start to drive

but the problems are when its suposed to be shifting gears it doesnt it pulls to the left and if i left off the gas it joilts and pulls to the right sharp you can hear the tranny reving, now i noticed that the neutrel sensor had oil leaking from it a bit can that sensor make the tranny slip ? or what else can make it slipping or not shift properly

Time to bend over and have it rebuilt.

that wasnt the answer i was hoping for

but i still wanna know does the netural switch have any to do with it slipping out of gear since it seems to leak a bit of oil?

also i seen a picture of the tranny on the one website it has solinodes on it does that do the shifting from like 40 kms and higher so it doesnt slip? can i just easily remove it

the tranny only has 211k on it so really it shouldnt have a problem yet as my other van has over 330k on it an no problems with that tranny

Even though the switch leaks the van starts. That is pretty much telling me the switch is working. Between the inputs of the of the Neutral and PRNDL switches the trans controller knows what gear the driver has selected. You need a scan tool that can access the TCM and monitor operation as you drive it to figure ouy why it is slipping. Swap the switch from your other van and try it if you want; and see if it changes anything. Without the proper diagnosis you are guessing. The guessing costs money from the parts you throw at it.

ok i looked at canadian tire for diagnostic tools
now i have a problem
there are 4 options

OBD Scan Tool
OBD Reader
OBD 2-In-1 Reader
OBD II Reader

i guessing the scan tool one is the one id need it does live but i dont really know and i have no idea if it does that TCM you mentioned

www.canadiantire.ca is the website if your american and maybe you can look and see what one id need if any

I believe the scan tool the above post refers to is for the "transmission". You will find it at a dealership only. I have no idea what something like that will cost you.

Be carefull with the so called "Trasmission Experts"

I was powerwashing my 97 Grand Voyager one afternoon (engine compartment). The next day when I drove it for the 1st time since the power wash it would not shift out of 2nd gear, a.k.a. limp mode.

I dropped it off at AAmco transmission for their diagnostics early one AM. Late in the afternoon they called me & told me I had an electrical problem and they would need to keep it an additional day to troubleshoot. I told them that I would pick it up thank you.

Driving home I started thinking that I must have done something during the powerwash. I also started thinking transmission & electrical & then it hit me...

I was not hearing the solenoid pack do it's routine clicking noise when I shifted into drive. I pulled ALL fuses & relays out of the fuse panel under the hood. I cleaned all contacts & dowsed down with contact cleaner. I found the relay for the transmission & swapped it with the fuel pump relay. Both use the exact same relay.

I tryed to start the car & it barely would idle. Hmmmm, I shot down to the autoparts & purchased a new relay for about $5.00. Replaced it with the fuel pump relay.

Van started right up & transmission shifted w/o problems.

With a company as big and experienced as Ammco I find it hard to believe they could not have figured it out! I wonder what they would have found if I left it a 2nd day.

hmm ill have to look then under the hood you say a relay i figured its the relay on the transmission itself the solinode that i had seen a pic of

i know i have like 50 of the standard relays

ill try that, if anyone else has ideas shoot them across too hehe

thanks ill try it

hi so this van doesnt have a relay for the transmission i guess cuz its a 91 and not a 97. i bought the scan tool 2 in 1 which is a obd 1 and 2 version but i see it its just a code reader and not a actual live scanning. so i like to know if there is tool to scan in the computer for ODB 1 or do i need to take the cover off the solinodes and run the van in gear and see if its engaging or if not what can i do to test it.

hi i was reading on a website for the 91 voyager about bad points and one of them said

Automatic transmission: The transmission front pump could be leaking due to a worn bushing. The fix involves replacement of the pump as well as the torque converter. (1990-95)

does that make the transmission slip from switching 2nd gear to 3rd gear?
or would it be the solinodes

hi
i got more issues with the tranny
and i have some ides too i heard.

i read about retraining the transmission after you discount the battery and then rehook it up after a while i did the like running in different gears well that doesnt work.

in L and 3 and OD all runs in the same gear, it doesnt even down shift even in L is like high gear.
when i did get going i could drive 80kms but after 40 kms i couldnt what happened was i let go of the gas then pressed it again and i could go, but what it does is when i gas it it shoots me to the left. and when i let go of the gas it basicly pulls to the right to the shoulder. Plus the transmission reves like crazy as i can hear it and it should be quite.

I also read aboutthe solinode pack being plugged is that possible for what i have even though L and 3 run in same gear as OD and how can i clean it also read that u have to use ATF 4 with these and not ATF 3

last thing when i got home from testing opening my gate i got back in and i couldnt drive when i gassed it id move really slow and the tranny was shutterly so i guess the torconverter was trying to grip or something

so with all that what can i do i gonna change the fluid to ATF 4 after i know whats the problem
and can i do my own transmission flush? or u need to get it done somewhere else?

ok since no one really knows what to do yet umm how do i take the solniode pack out and how can i clean it without dismantling it

can i was it out with gas and take it out while the tranny still intacked? i have the plastic cover off but i dunno if the side panel holds the solnoides or if the whole unit comes out

any help be good on cleaning it or what not
