99 Stratus Misfiring supposedly

My wife took her car in to get a diagnostic because it has been dying on her. If you let off of the gas at times it dies out and around 50 it jerks. The test said it was misfiring on all cylinders. I was wanting to know how to fix this problem and if i could do it myself. Im an extreme rookie with cars.

Re: 99 Stratus Misfiring supposedly

You could try a number of things. I had this problem with one cylinder. Try and replace the spark plugs first, if it's still a problem then try and replace the spark plug wires. This is what the problem ultimately was for me. Replacing the wires fixed the problem. If the problem continues then you could try replacing the coil pack. It could also be the fuel pump. Try the others first. If you take it to an Autozone, they can do a free diagnostics check and it will give you a list of possible reasons for the problem.
