It’s possible that you got a bad thermostat. Does it run hot while driving and at a stand still? Did you install it or have it done? You can do a quick test to see if the thermostat is opening up. Take it and put it in a cup with boiling water, you will be able to see if it is working properly. You can also see if it is working by opening the radiator cap (make sure car is cool) and start the car and wait for the car to get hot (160-180) and you should see the water moving through the radiator. You should also feel pressure in your upper radiator hose if the thermostat is working properly.

Re: 92' cutlass supreme is getting HOT ---->HELP!!!!

i already tested the thermostat and its working correctly and the radiator is not overheating

i was told that the flap or whatever it is...is not opening to let hot air out of the motor into the exhaust...could that be possible and if so what do i need to do??????

thanks for the input!

Re: 92' cutlass supreme is getting HOT ---->HELP!!!!

I was having this same problem with my 96 cutlass supreme. After 4 thermostats, a water pump, and an upper radiator hose I finally came to the conclusion that the heater core was plugged. Sure enough I took out the old one and it was plugged. I replaced it for around 50 bucks and now my car doesn't run hot and my heat works. you might want to try this. I don't know about your car in particular but I believe that they all are pretty much the same. It took me maybe about an hour and a half to change the old one and have the new one back in and leak checked. Hope that this helps you.
