2000 Jimmy Driver Window stuck shut

2000 GMC Jimmy 2wd 4 Door 4.3L. My problem just started last week. Driver's window was down and pushed the button to close it and it closed normally. When I went to open it again later, it would not move. The switch just clicks. From the few posts on this forum that even mention it, the various parts are not cheap nor are they fun to Remove and Replace. I was told the the Master Window Switch on the driver's arm rest has a circuit breaker in it and what I am actually hearing is the circuit breaker tripping when I hold the button down, probably due to a defective motor. Has anyone had to deal with this issue?

Yep, but not on a 2000. I just did it on my '93 Bravada. If it's the same sort of thing, there's excess grease inside the motor that heats up and drips down onto a bi-metal 'breaker', tripping it. You can't move the window again until it's cool.

I got my window motors on eBay - the place had a 2-for special (both fronts were bad). And, even with shipping, the 2 cost less than one in the local store.

I found step-by-step pictures online, specific to 1st gens, and got it done reasonably quickly. We had the help of an pneumatic die grinder to grind off the heads of the rivets, though. The rivets that hold the assembly to the door are rather beefy. The rivets that hold the motor to the regulator/track aren't and could have been drilled out with a cordless drill.

The replacement motors came with bolts & nuts to attach the motor to the regulator/track, but I had to find bolts to attach the assembly to the door.

It's not fun, but it's not terrible.

My problem must be slightly different. The window won't move no matter how long it sits or how cold it is.

Re: 2000 Jimmy Driver Window stuck shut

Could be switch or motor and some times wiring.
The circuit breaker should be left side of dash fuse box area.
The left front door wiring also shows a express down module.
Not sure it it is part of master switch or seperate.
To check motor or switch the Dark blue and brown wires to motor should have power and ground.
To go up or down the switch reverses power and ground on the two window motor wires.
A good old type bulb test light should test it.
Let us know how it goes.
If wiring is needed let us know.
Good Luck

Re: 2000 Jimmy Driver Window stuck shut

This happens to me now and again. Seems to get stuck when closed ... I can hear the motor clicking if I hold down the button for a few seconds. I never fixed it because a few days later it starts to work again ... something must be causing it to jam, but I guess a few slammed doors and it gets unstuck ... not much help I know but maybe try slamming the door a few times see if that helps.
