I am 1/2 way through my engine transplant.
Thought that I would share. I have the engine out and sitting on my garage floor. Have an engine stand, but would like to use that for the brand new(remanufactured) engine from Promar Engines. Anyone heard anything good or bad about their engines? Anyways. I have everything off the old engine and laying in small piles on the garage floor. I haven't taken off the crankshaft pulley or the timing chain cover. The old engine had metal chunks, not shavings, actual bits of thin metal, kind of like a shredded pop can in the oil pan when I took it off. Mind you, this engine let go at about 89,000 miles due to minimal sludge in the engine. What advice do you all want to give me about putting the new engine? I plan on installing the transaxle/engine mounting bolts first, then figuring out how the main wiring harness goes on. I think I know where everything goes, but there were a few that I had to rush to get off the engine, because it was hanging in the air. How do I get whatever it is between the cylinder heads off? It looks like it goes into the right bank of the engine block, and it has a connector coming off of it. I have the lower intake manifold off, fuel rail off, injectors off, this is a connector below it. I'm not sure what that is, or how I'm going to get to it. Any suggestions?
