Remote starter

I have a 1998 villager, it has a factory alarm system, the remote has been lost. Anyone have any suggestions on where to get a replacement, ebay? Also I want to install a remoter starter system in preps for winter coming, anyone have any suggestions on a good reasonably priced system?
thanks

Re: Remote starter

The dealer should be able to get you going.
http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/ This place sells wiring kits so you don't have to cut and splice a major problem on these units. They also sell alarm systems and have good guidelines.
I would buy a decent quality not ebays cheapest.

Re: Remote starter

Well if you are going to do a remote starter, I wouldn't bother with the OE keyless and just get a nice aftermarket remote start with keyless. Just remember that you get what you pay for with Bulldog systems being the bottom of the barrel.

www.scytek.net and www.compustar.com are the ones I sell and recomend. Sometimes you can find a decent buys of these units on Ebay.

Re: Remote starter

I never installed one or had one but when I had a garage people got towed in with a no start problem and stated they were installing a system. I told them we didn't do them to go to an alarm shop. They said to get it running normally at that time they burnt a fuseable link and maybe some other wires. Since bulldog has wiring harness for their units I recommend them.
I'm sure you know how to wire them up or you wouldn't be in the business. Will a Bulldog wiring harness work for your suggested units. This is my only problem with your companies. I looked at the link but didn't observe any.

Re: Remote starter

Yes you could get one of the bulldog harnesses to work if you modify it but I wouldn't bother. I use many guides when doing installs. That inlcudes Bulldog's information and I'll tell you even today, Bulldog has a lot of misinformation on there site. Besides, many of the newer cars only have a handfull of wires in the ignition. No aftermarket company has harnesses for any of the other wires needed to be hooked up to properly install a remote starter.
