Re: intake

I thought you said you didn't care (and I can't remember off hand, I could find it though if you agree to be patient.)

Re: intake

There is, of course, another option. Check out a few sites that have the aftermarket intake you like, then get the required precut tubing shapes from eBay, use Samco rubber and the filter head of your choice. You can get a pipe/tubing spreader (reshapes mishapen pipe) from your harware store for about $15. If you build it yourself, you have the chance to slowly tune the lengths of the feed tube behind the filter. Just having it fit is not enough. Most aftermarket companies will sell you something that puts the filter where it "looks nice", but the reality is, if you stick a thermometer in the engine comapartment and shut the hood, you will find that temperatures are quite different from when it is up.

What I mean by that is: building your own intake and being patient about it is the best way. You get flawless performance, fitment, and sound. I am guessing you want to really hear your BPV/BOV? That PSST or WSSSH sound is going to be louder with a SRI (Short Ram Intake) than a CAI (Cold Air Intake), the SRI is lighter, easier to tune, less prone to vapor/hydro lockup, and ultimately when built correctly yields higher gains. Remember that air increases in temperature as it passes through a long tube, unless it is forced. The coldest charge is under the panel between the factory airbox location and the fenderwell/firewall. An HKS SuperPFlow will fit. It is loud, growls rather viciously, and really blasts the air with the venting of the BPV, but it works... It is making significant power over the factory airbox, maybe 8hp at peak. The claims of 15-25hp gains with an intake are total garbage. It just does NOT work that way. The engineers who designed this amazing car which we all fell in love with are not idiots. They knew and know what works. It is not amazing with all the aftermarket, that the system is still the same. It is quiet, easy to service, durable, and does not entice prying eyes. Put bluntly, you are going to annoy a few people with the noise you are making, even though you may pass them doing it. Hey. We are only helping...
