97 3.0L caravan filler neck master cylinder

How do you remove the filler neck from the top of the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir?

Follow up.....

I am noticing some leaking fluid at the base of the filler neck where it goes into the top of the plastic reservoir.

It looks like the filler neck should be removed by lifting it up vertically from the reservoir. Is there a o ring at the base of the neck that could be leaking?

My filler neck appears to be just press fitted onto my reservoir. I took a look at it yesterday but did not attempt to remove. I suggest you remove and inspect the seal. Could possibly just need removed & cleaned.

I am going to stop at dealer and see if they show a o ring in the bottom of the neck.

Thanks.

Re: 97 3.0L caravan filler neck master cylinder

My 97 is a 3.3 and there is an o-ring on the filler neck. I did have to replace mine...no more leaks Look at how the actual cap fits on and removes from the filler neck assembly.

(As I recall you twist it several degrees counter clockwise to line up the slots on the cap to the tank and then you pull it up/rock it off.)

The reason I say that is that as I recall...you could remove the filler neck and just go with the cap from the filler neck mounted directly to the reservoir, if you wanted to. The whole filler neck assembly is there just to make it easier to ad brake fluid...but the cap could go straight on to the reservoir. So it stands to reason that whatever it takes to remove the cap works for removing the filler and getting to the O-ring.
