I have read the previous threads that discuss this cause by some missing/plugged A/C drain tube the comes off the firewall and can only be seen from the bottom. Been under mine this past weekend and cannot locate this hose for the life of me. They say that it comes down and is about 6 inches away from the single exhaust pipe leading to the catalytic converter. I found all my oil leaks, but no drain tube. What's its diameter? Is it flush or up a few inches from the bottom of the van?

Some also say that you really need to clean the debris as well in the heater core besides just unplugging this infamous drain hose as well as checking for leaks in the heater hoses. Is there a diagram somewhere showing me this in the cabin heater core. Can I get to it myself?

Others have said my leak could be from a plugged-inside-the-glove-box air filter(s). The glove box air filter(s) have never been changed/cleaned. My floor has water under the carpet on both sides in front of the front seats as well as in the wire harness channels. Probably explains my loss of DS power seat controls. This is not from washing my van (windshield seal) since I have not in 2 months, but did the hot weather, use my A/C all the time trip for 1 wk.

Need to know my next steps as I do not mind tearing things apart and repairing them on this van as I have done in the past. Just trying to avoid that free/$95 cup of coffee that comes with that dealer visit. I hate when they have to convince you that they needed to take apart this many items to confirm what the problem is.

Any takers for my next steps.

If you can't find the drain hose, than it probably isn't there. It should be visible to you below the firewall as it turns under the cabin area. On my van it had fallen off and the core was draining fine, the problem was the wind pressure against the firewall actually blew the water draining from the pipe back agains the firewall and into the small opening around the drain pipe (it goes through the firewall). Both DS and PS were soaked and causing some electrical gremlins all over the van.

When under the van, reach up against the firewall, carefull the exhaust manifold, near the middle of the van, and feel for the hard plastic drain tube sticking out about 1/2 to 3/4 inch from the firewall. I went to an autoparts store and found a 5/8 (I think it was 5/8, it was awhile ago, if you have any playdoh, when you locate the pipe stick the playdoh against it and then you can measure the exact hose diameter you need) heater hose with a 90 degree bend in it and a hose clamp. Attached the heater hose and cut it to length so it drained below the firewall, and bingo - no more wet carpets.

Hopefully this helps, let us know what you find.

yeah bigcoconuts right if you can't find the drain hose it has fallen off which is common on these vans. when they put the hose on at the factory they used contact glue and with only a 1/2 inch of the drain to hold to it falls off after the glue gets old. the hose is 5/8 " and you can buy a piece of 5/8 " heater hose with a 90 degree elbow in it. you can see the drain with the right front tire off it is right above the right inner tie rod boot. cut the new 5/8" heater hose so you have 1 1/4 " from the center of the elbow and 3" from the center of the elbow on the other end . find the drain end and with some force you can slip the shorter end on the drain.and 3" will give you more drain hose to let it lower so there is no way it can blow back on the firewall. i gave a dollar for 8" of heater hose with a 90 in it.

You and bigcoconuts have saved me. Thanks. Took the right side /PS wheel off, reached up and across to only find this 1/8" deep hard plastic ring/nipple and no drain hose off it. Found a right angle 5/8'' or so heater hose in my parts bin and slid it over and voila, no more leak in the cabin. Will replace with a better one and put a hose clamp as well maybe this weekend since I do not wnat this one falling off. What a forum this is!!!! Thanks a bunch.
