Strut mount for 95 Camrynmikmik 08-20-2008, 04:10 PM Hi, my son's 95 Camry struts were replaced a couple of years ago with KYBs, (so they may have 12-15k on em) drove his car a couple of days ago and struts sound horrible - every little imperfection on the road causes noise on the left side. Bounced left front a couple time while parked - looks like a little gap between the spring seat and the upper strut cap with those 3 studs that attach strut to the fender (obviously don't know what they are called in reality) is causing that noise. Q1. Do i need to rent the compression tool to change the strut mount? Q2. Doe sit sound like i need the strut mount or just the baring plate http://www.partsamerica.com/productdetail.aspx?MfrCode=MON&MfrPartNumber=904950&PartType=1193&PTSet=A Q3. Would it make any sense to replace both strut mounts at the same time (logic - one went - the second one is on it's way) and I don't believe he will tell me that it sounds not normal. Q4. Should i replace any other parts as long I am already there - ball joints etc. or just leave it and see if and when something goes wrong. btw. it has 205k on it already and i am getting ready to paint it :screwy: it's his H. School graduation present. I really prefer not to go to the local shop cause they have tried selling me everything i did not need every time i went for alignment. Thanks! Daniel M. If they truly are loose you need to do that immedicately. You can also tighten the bolt in the center. You would need to compress the spring to replace strut mounts, or struts. nmikmik 08-22-2008, 09:37 AM Thanks a lot! Tried tightening the mounting nuts, it would not budge, tried the center nut on the strut - it did go about 1/8 of the turn , that i think is a lot. I used my torque wrench so i could put some muscle into it, but i was afraid to damage anything inside the strut. Will try and see today if it helped any, if not back to the mount. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
