2001 #1 cyl

guys my 2001 z28 is consuming 1 quart of oil every 3k miles. and i dont like the smoke when i rev it. do yall think i need to re-ring the #1 cylinder? and does this require new piston & rings? how much would this cost? thanks. and dont tell me to ignore it.

If one cylinder needs rings, all of them do. I doubt just one cylinder is causing all the smoke, but I suppose it's possible.

Have a "leakage" test done. That will tell you a lot more than a compression test. If more than one or two are more than 15% leakage, it's time for a rebuild. How many miles on this engine?

i assume it is #1 because gm overbored many 2001/2002 ls1 #1s. 90k miles

i was wanting more feedback from ls1 owners to see if they have had this problem with the #1 cylinder.... but thanks. where can i get this test performed?
