What condition is this turbo in? Time is running out!

hey all, i've been offered a GT2876R for my s14 at a very good price, but the problem is i wont get to view it as i've only got 24hours till the offer expires. here are some pics...

it even comes with a tial 38mm, this is going to put me forward ALOT on my budget. i put aside $1600 for the turbo and $350 for the wastegate, and this offer includes both of them for $1100 (NZ currency). what do you guys think? based on the pics can we tell anything about the turbo? does the internal gate welding look like it's been done properly? also you'll notice a small chip by the coolant feed, the seller reckons this DOES NOT effect the performance of the turbo or leak. what do you think? i have the oppertunity to buy a brand new GT2876R for 1600, would it be worth it to shell out the extra $850 for a brand new turbo and wastegate?

Good old tardme.

It looks reasonably clean, if a turbo has either blown it's seals or been on a blown engine then there's usually black oily gunge visible all through the exhaust wheel and sometimes the compressor too. It's got none of those so it's either good or has been stripped and cleaned which doesn't look likely.
If the bearings go, the seals leak. No sign of either of those.

I don't like the welded wastegate flap. It's possible that the welding distortion will pull up the other side and make it leak a little. Worst case, new turbine housing which is probably $100 for a good second hand one without the ugly silver paint.

I think the price is high for a second hand turbo, but I don't know the availability of those.

Good luck. I see it's been relisted.

well thats good news cause i bought it! i gave him an offer he couldnt refuse ($1050) and its sitting here, waiting for me to collect the rest of my build parts. yeah, i was actually wondering if the flap would leak on the other side but who knows. i saw a slightly larger housing for sale with a t3 flange and no internal gate which im considering, i've gotta make my mind up before i get the manifold and down pipe made
