I bought a Ford Escort 1995 in June which had 110,000 on the clock, and have driven roughly 500 miles since owning it, but noticed that the mileage in just over 208,000miles and is rising.

I made note of the mileage again yesterday after a short journey (2miles) and it had done 1,101 miles more....!!

What would the problem be?
