Exclamation 92 Honda Accord --- No Fire

i have a 92 accord. i was driving it and the gear broke off of the camshaft. ended up messing up the head. well i replaced the head on it, but now i can't get it to start. changed out the distributor and the coil, but still will not fire. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you. if you need any more info just let me know. thanks again. Chris

yes it tries to crank. there is signal going into the coil, but no fire coming out the other side into the distributor cap. pulled the coil off of a working car so i know it's not that part of it. had the ignition module tested and it is working fine.

Re: 92 Honda Accord --- No Fire

Since this happens after you replaced the head, the first thing I would suspect is the timing. Did you get the timing belt on correctly? And, how did you check the spark?

Re: 92 Honda Accord --- No Fire

first i would check the timing since the problem started after you changed the head. second did you replace the whole distributor? i have had to replace atleast half a dozen of them in cars over the years. (late 80s-early 90's are known for the distributor going bad). i have also had a "brand new" distributor from autozone that was bad. i bought a whole new distibutor on ebay for under $150.00 about four months ago.

Re: 92 Honda Accord --- No Fire

i pulled the distributor and coil off of a running 92 honda accord, exact same as the one that don't get fire. so i know that those 2 parts are good. i checked the spark by taking off the wires one at a time and putting a spark plug into it and holding it against the frame while it was being cranked over. none of the wires had any spark. even tried with the coil wire that goes to the distributor and it had no spark either. i thank you guys for all of your input on this problem. it has me wanting to pull my hair out.

Re: 92 Honda Accord --- No Fire

wouldn't it still at least get some kind of spark even if the timing is off. Im positive that i have the timing right though

Re: 92 Honda Accord --- No Fire

If you do not get any spark, this would be either your coil or igniter.

Good luck,

Sam
