Re-programming Keyless Entry

I recently purchased a 1998 Honda Accord EX, which had remotes(called the dealer, ran the VIN, equipped with the keyless entry system), but did not come with the vehicle. I own a used car lot/repair shop, so I have lots of remotes to different vehicles, but is it possible to re-program the honda remotes(same type it origionally came with)to work with this accord? The dealer was trying to tell me you couldnt....Any help is much appreciated!

P.S. Did the 1998 Accord's key have a micro-chip in it? The honda dealer is trying to tell us they do, and have to be specially ordered, yet the key that came with the car is some generic walmart cut key?
