Thermostat heat damage?Christoferlee 08-02-2008, 03:40 PM Hey guys, I was wondering if your engine was everheat (into the red), would it damage or distroy the wax in a thermostat? My S-10 had recently overheaded on the freeway (Falty radaitor cap) and ever sence, it would overheat slightly when driven for a few miles. I replaced the thermo and the problem was solved. Could the first severe overheat have done somthing to the thermostat? MT-2500 08-02-2008, 04:54 PM Yes. Overheat can do in a thermostat. If all is well now. No sweat now. No problem now /problem solved right? MT Christoferlee 08-03-2008, 03:14 AM Yea, the problem is solved, I just wanted to know how the problem accured, so I know what to do if it happens again. Thank you! Hopefully it won't happen again :p! Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
