Has any body dealt with rust control on their steel wheels?

Just curious about that. I'm thinking on reconditioning the original wheels once I get the 18s that I want. I was considering powder coating the wheels. Any cons on that procedure? Does it become a high maintenance issue? Assuming it's been done. Sorry and thanks!
