89 vette with radio problem.

I am helping my dad with his vette with a radio problem. Whats happening is the left rear speaker when plugged in putting out and ear piercing beep. If I unplug the speaker the reset of the speakers work ok. Just wondering if there is a bad amp in this car if there is an amp or does my dad have to find a new radio?

There is an amp for each of the speakers. Pull the speaker and sound chamber for the one that's bad and the other one too. Swap the amps and see if the squeal follows the amp. If it does, r&r the amp. If it doesen't, have the stereo head unit serviced. Good luck!
